Practice

bulletWe use adverbs( e.g. happily)  to describe how someone or something does an action.

           e.g. John plays happily.

                  We should cross the road carefully.

                  I closed the door quietly when I left.

bulletForm-- by adding - ly to the adjective

        

slow -- slowly  quiet --  quietly  careful -- carefully  bad -- badly

         

bulletIf the adjective ends with - y, the adverb ends with - ily.
happy -- happily  busy --  busily   easy --  easily

 

bulletSome adverbs do not end with - ly.
 good  --  well   hard  --  hard
